The Hanseatic Energy Hub team visits Musel E-Hub

• The meeting favoured the exchange of knowledge and the exploration of synergies between the two energy infrastructures

Representatives of Hanseatic Energy Hub (HEH), including CEO Jan Themlitz, paid a technical visit to the Musel E-Hub plant.

The visit, coordinated by Antonio Manzano, Terminal General Manager, and Raúl Jiménez, Terminal Manager, was the perfect occasion to strengthen the exchange of know-how around LNG terminals and explore synergies between the two energy infrastructures, especially in terms of efficiency and sustainability.

Hanseatic Energy Hub, an LNG terminal located in Stade (Germany), is currently at an advanced stage of development, with plans to start operations in 2027. The visit to Musel E-Hub allowed HEH representatives to get first-hand knowledge of how it works, as it also aims to become a national and European benchmark and contribute to the energy transition.

During the course of the day, Musel E-Hub technicians shared details on topics such as the construction of its LNG storage tanks, which have a capacity of 150,000 m³. They also discussed the maintenance process implemented at the Spanish plant during its hibernation phase and the differences between the authorisation processes for infrastructures of this type in Spain and Germany.

The Hanseatic Energy Hub, in which Enagás will participate as technical operator, will play a key role in guaranteeing energy supply in Europe. The plant will be able to process 13.3 bcm of natural gas per year and will be prepared for the import of new energy carriers, such as hydrogen and renewable ammonia, thus aligning with long-term decarbonisation goals.

This meeting strengthens Musel E-Hub’s position as a key player in the European energy sector and reinforces the relationship between the two infrastructures, which aim to promote a sustainable and efficient energy transition.
